It is hard to believe that June is coming to an end and July is upon us next week. It’s been a busy month as our practice returns to its normal pace following these uncertain times. We continue to bring fresh ideas to the practice.

Patient Accessibility and Communication

Texting: We are now using text to remind our patients of their appointments on the day before and day of appointment. Please remember to check the time! Patients will also receive texts when their eyewear and/or contact lenses have arrived. Please feel free to text us any of your questions.
Patient Portal: This will allow patients to access your reports, testing results, and prescriptions from anywhere. Click “Patient Portal” on the top Tab. Enter the username and password printed at the bottom of your receipt.

Patient Care

We are still maintaining our protocols in office to reduce transmission of the coronavirus in our community. Keep our patients safe is a priority! For more details about this, please read our last post. http://www.hovisiongroup.com/keeping-you-safe-new-in-office-coronavirus-protocols/

New Technologies and Platforms

Supplements: Our practice has partnered with Enlivened (https://www.enlivened.com/). This will allow our patients to conveniently order their supplements online from a reputable source and have them delivered to their door.
Heartmath (https://www.heartmath.com/): Many of you may be surprised that we are bringing this technology as it does not seem to relate to optometry. In the presence of a global pandemic, mindfulness and mental health are more important than ever. Many of our patients with brain injury and less typical neurology struggle with emotional regulation so this tool has been a wonderful adjunct to provide biofeedback and encourage.
Rehabilitation: We brought NeuroVisual Trainer platform to provide a more interactive online experience for our patients. You can now access your therapy exercises from any computer or digital device and there are also many more red-green anaglyph games to play!

Staying on the Forefront

Dr. Ho’s first online continuing education lecture “Low Vision Rehabilitation: Improving Quality of Life” was received well by her optometric colleagues in early June. There were 95 Zoom attendees from various States and even Canada! She previously also lectured extensively on brain injury co-management at her local optometric society as well as many of the local hospitals and outpatient therapy clinics.
Dr. Ho continues to connect with her colleagues nationwide (& internationally!) for various remote optometric conferences. She has taken over 12 hours of lectures the past few months so that she can remain stay on the forefront of education and provide the best patient care experience possible.
As always, we appreciate all our patients who have entrusted us with their care. There have been many transitions within the last few months and we truly appreciate the patience of our patients. Stay safe and well everyone!
