How do we maintain best practices in today’s challenging world? At Ho Vision Group, our mission is to “guide, provide and support the vision potential of every patient through compassion and innovation”.
I think we are coming into our own as an office. In any new endeavor, such as moving a practice to a new location, it takes time to work out the kinks. We are currently celebrating our 2 year anniversary since the relocation to our new office location.
We are utilizing many strategies to offer the best services possible. Patient input is important. We value our patients’ input, very much appreciate their compliments and see any criticism as a means to improve.
Another strategy is our co-workers interaction. Character traits of mutual respect, camaraderie, encouragement, applying unique skills and having a good work ethic help us function well as a team. We spend time understanding how each staff member bring their unique experience and supportive role to provide our patients with the best care.
A tool we use strategically is ongoing education. This education includes understanding the functions of the office thru staff meetings, ongoing education thru Lunch and Learn meetings, searching out ‘best practices’ to use in the administrative aspects of the practice, and the freedom of trial and error so when mistakes are made we allow for re-evaluation and re-direction.
On the clinical front, we look forward to implementing new technologies to diagnose and manage our patients and their visual and conditions. This next month we will be bringing optical coherence tomography (OCT) and retinal camera. OCT uses light waves to provide high resolution imaging of the retina and optic nerve which provide better guidance in managing retina conditions, such as macular degeneration, glaucoma, and diabetic eye disease. Retina photos allow for patients to see how systemic conditions can be reflected by the health of the inside of the eye.

Finally, our professionalism when dealing with our patients, other doctor offices, insurance companies, law offices, schools, and therapists (occupational, physical, speech) and other rehabilitation organizations has helped create a wonderful network of professionals for positive support.
